Back to hubAI Safety & Responsible Use
Florida Word Adventures uses AI to suggest everyday literacy moments. Here's what that means — and what it doesn't.
What the AI coach is not
- It is not a speech-language pathologist (SLP), therapist, psychologist, or pediatrician.
- It does not diagnose speech, language, learning, behavioral, or developmental conditions.
- It does not provide medical, mental-health, legal, safety, nutrition, or emergency advice.
- It is not a replacement for human professionals, IEP teams, or your own parental judgment.
How to use it well
- Always supervise your child during any activity suggested by the coach.
- Use suggestions as starting points — not scripts. You know your child best.
- AI can make mistakes. Review every suggestion before acting on it.
- Skip anything that doesn't fit your child's age, abilities, mood, or your family's values.
- Never share private information (full name, address, school, medical history) with the coach.
When to talk to a real professional
If you have any concern about your child's speech, language, hearing, learning, behavior, or development, please contact a licensed professional. Good starting points:
- Your child's pediatrician
- A licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) — find one via ASHA ProFind
- Your school district's Child Find office (free evaluations for ages birth–21)
- In Florida: Early Steps (birth–3) or FDLRS (3+)
